Mitten Tree Mission Event
Are you looking for a way to help brighten the holidays of needy families within our community? Consider participating in the “Christmas Giving Tree” project, coordinated by St. Ansgar’s Mission committee. Beginning Sunday, December 2, look for a small Christmas tree in the church narthex, decorated with paper mittens. Each mitten lists a gift for a needy child, teen, or adult, along with the age and gender of the intended recipient; sizes are given when needed. (To assure the anonymity of the recipients, names are not included; rather, each mitten will have a family code.) To take part in the “Christmas Giving Tree” project, simply select a mitten from the tree, purchase the gift item, and then place the unwrapped gift back under the tree in the narthex. The coded paper mitten should be included with the gift. Gifts need to be turned in by Sunday, December 16. A number of mittens will also request a gift of money. Monetary donations will enable each family to receive an Econo Foods gift certificate for their Christmas meal. Checks may be made payable to St. Ansgar’s Lutheran Church. Thrivent Financial is matching funds for this project. Volunteers needed for a work center on Monday, December 17th @ 1:00 pm to sort and wrap gifts.
