Mission Committee News
The pandemic slowed down most of the activities of the Mission Committee. However, the mission projects continued on with monthly special offerings. A special thank you to all who contributed to these projects during this time. It is never too late to send in an offering to a special project and these can be sent in or dropped off at the office at any time. The results of the various offerings were as follows:
March Food Shelf: $847.00
April World Hunger $25
June Colombia Missions: $195.00
July Habitat for Humanity: 0
The October mission focus is Feed My Starving Children. Even though the November event is not going to be held in Cannon Falls this year due to the pandemic, offerings are encouraged to help fund this very successful and important project. The focus for November is the Good Samaritan Fund which helps by providing funds for the needs of local people through the local churches. This is a very important fund especially when the cold winter months are here and one of the needs is often fuel assistance. Please consider this in your mission outreach offering for November.
Fifty-two personal care kits were delivered to Lutheran World Relief this summer. These donations were from during Lent when items were brought each Sunday to complete these kits. A Thrivent Action Grant purchased an additional 30 kits. A special thank you to Julie Hobert for working on and completing this project.
The quilters have been busy even during the isolation time by sewing quilt tops at home. The group is once again meeting with necessary precautions and recently 45 quilts were delivered to Lutheran World Relief. An additional 30+ remain for local giving including the Mitten Tree families. This project will be held as usual during the month of December.
A sincere thank you to all who have kept the Mission Projects going during these difficult times. The needs are still there, even more so, and any and all donations are deeply appreciated.
