Personal Care Kits
Cleanliness may not actually be next to godliness, but it certainly makes a person feel more human. When families find their homes destroyed or must flee for their safety, soap and a towel rarely make the cut for what they can carry. Arriving in a refugee camp or other place of safety, they are scared, vulnerable and dirty from the travel. The simple items included in a Personal Care Kit provide much needed self-care, critical germ fighting, and the chance to regain dignity amidst situations of fear and uncertainty.
WE CAN HELP! The mission project for our Lenten Journey 2019 will be Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits. Each Sunday during Lent we would like you to bring the items needed to make up a care kit. Those items are listed below. Please bring the item that is suggested for each Sunday, or if you prefer, you can purchase them all at one time and bring them all on any one Sunday during Lent. Just put them into the basket provided in the narthex near the office door. There is also a small basket with envelopes if you would like to help defray the shipping cost of $2.65 per kit.
These are the items needed:
March 10~One new light-weight bath size towel (20”x40” to 52”x27”),dark color recommended.
March 17~Two or three bath size bars of soap equaling 8 to 9 oz., any brand, in original wrapping, no mini or hotel size.
March 24~ONE adult size toothbrush in its original packaging.
March 31~ONE sturdy comb (no picks or fine-toothed combs).
April 7~ONE metal nail clippers (attached file optional).
April 14~Make-up day. Bring anything you might have forgotten other days.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PARTICIPATION!
For the needy shall not always be forgotten, nor the hope of the poor perish forever. Psalm 9:18
